TAQUESI TREK

Taquesi is known as the Inca Trail. It"s one of the most popular and impressive walks in the Andes. The route of the Taquesi provides spectacular views of the mountains as well as the semi-tropical Yungas valleys

Brief description of the trek

DAY 1 (Trip from La Paz to the San Francisco mine and hike to the village of Taquesi)

The tour begins at 8:00 in the morning with a trip by private transportation to the San Francisco mine (about 2 hours travel time). We will begin our trek by climbing to the Apacheta, (sacred rock pile) at 15,255 feet above sea level. Then we will descend to the community of Taquesi.

We will arrive at the campsite around 16:30

DAY 2 (Hike to Estancia Kakapi and camping at the hamlet of Chojlla)

After breakfast, we will continue the trek to the hamlet of Chojlla passing by Estancia Kakapi, enjoying as we go the many changes of scenery as well as the construction of the Inca Trail itself.

We will arrive at the campsite around 16:00

DAY 3 (Hike to Yanacachi and return to the city of La Paz)

After breakfast, we will continue the trek to the villaje of Yanacachi, passing by the Chojlla mine. During the trip we will be able to see gigantic ferns and a wide variety of flowers..

After lunch we will return to the city of La Paz by local transportation.

Variations for a tour of 2 days and 1 night:

- First day, Trip from La Paz to San Francisco, hike to Estancia Kakapi and camp.

- Second day, hike to the Chojlla mine and return to La Paz.
